To the People of Northern Florida, We are living in a turbulent time. This is an era when the United States is in the process of redefining itself. At the congressional level, the major national issues that were once talked about a few years ago are now at our doorstep. On May 1, 2008 I officially qualified as a candidate to seek the office of U.S. Representative for Florida's 2nd Congressional District, with the goal of working successfully on the tough issues. It is difficult to discuss these serious issues independently. National security, immigration reform, energy independence, the war on terrorism, skyrocketing healthcare costs, the home mortgage crisis, the trade deficit, and our crippling economy are all interconnected. All of these issues are being felt in our own congressional district. When large businesses are faced with major problems they hire the best personnel to solve those problems. Our country must do the same through the election process. After viewing the political debates, news commentaries and observing opinion polls over the last year, if is fair to say that most Americans feel our country needs to move in a new direction. I believe there is a direct correlation between the lack of voter confidence and the direction that our country is headed. Our nation is at a point where we must begin solving the major national issues by formulating new solutions to old problems. The time to make a change and restore the voter's confidence is now. No longer can I stand on the sidelines and just wait to see how things play out. I feel it is my responsibility as a compassionate American to make my contribution by stepping onto the field and begin working on the solutions that will help each and everyone of us. My skills in research methodology, statistical analysis, conflict resolution, and problem solving are a solid foundation to make the crucial decisions when representing our people. It is time to pass the torch to a new representative. As a candidate for congress, I am ready to grab the torch and represent our district in Washington. I plan to serve this district with dignity and ask for your vote in the general election to be held on November 4th, 2008. Sincerely, |
